I am somewhat troubled by the whole ChatGPT and the future of AI.

In my field, Product Management, the value that makes me worth almost $200K per year to my employer is the long history I have and deep knowledge to connect the dots and build coherent business plans and justifications. AI is going to completely destroy this field.

Not today or tomorrow, but in 10 years, I would be surprised if the role of Product Manager was nothing more than a meeting facilitator (to gather feedback from SME's - subject matter experts) who then use the insights from the SME's to properly format queries to some boutique LLM that will then spit out a perfect market requirements document.

Nope, the intelligence that I apply daily, that took much of my 25 years of doing this will be automated away, and the next generation of PM's will be technicians, instead of domain masters.

I am fortunate that I will be able to work out my end game (7ish more years), but those just getting into it? Fuhgeddaboutit

I have mostly avoided the ChatGPT so far, but one of my team (we build IT training) has built a tool that uses API access to ChatGPT (that we pay for) to feed it the course outline, and then take the summary and description to be used for our marketing and portal for the training. I do some of these tasks, and it takes me ~ 10 minutes to draft a 25 word summary and a 250 word extended description. Assuming a fully burdened marketing person at $120 an hour (that is low to mid range) that is a cost of ~ $20 per description/summary. The cost of the API call using our commercial token for ChatGPT: $0.01

Yep, future generations are well and truly fucked.
