One of my biggest peeves is this thing where all personal preferences are becoming political.

So now you are right wing because you don't like.... a movie?

Fighting about movies is as American as apple pie. Going on rants about bad movies (I'm looking at you Rango) is the best. Movie preferences cross all political spectrums. And now we can't criticize certain movies because of politics? I didn't like Elemental. Does that mean I'm a bigot?

Tesla is my best example of this.

If I tell someone on the right I like Teslas, I'm a Gretta Thurnberg fanboy who only eats avocado toast and am a hypocrite for not calling out Taylor Swift's use of her private jet for it's impact on the environment.

If I tell someone on the left I like Teslas, I'm an immature Elon fanboy who will never grow up and lives in his mom's basement.

Sometimes people can be the worst.

Preaching to the choir here.

What particularly peeved me about this one was that it was clear she hadn't read any of it. It's not just like what you mention above, but you have to be 100% on board with their line of thinking or else you are just a [insert trollish trope name here]. As if whoever is doing the trolling is the grand omnipotent arbiter of righteousness, and everyone else is just WRONG. I hate people like that.

Admittedly, I didn't actually get that much reader mail this week (probably because I didn't post much during the week) but this one just stuck out because it pissed me off so much.

Enjoy that avocado toast RobotJim.

I hate to tell you this, but this is all coming from college campuses. One of these kind of girls is my daughter who no longer lives with us and refuses to engage with me or with other family members or friends because we aren't completely in line with her far left "democratic" way of thinking/believing (oh the patriarchy, the climate is doomed, capitalism needs to be abolished, Republicans are Nazis/fascists etc etc etc etc). Try living with these SJW people (they are CRAZY and stupid). Feel lucky that you only have to deal with them in the form of an email.

Agreed, but keep trying to connect with your daughter. I've had family members go off the other end of the spectrum with MAGA and it is a constant source of sadness for me. Hopefully, your daughter will eventually undestand it isn't a zero sum game at some point (we all do) and whatever damage there was can be repaired.
