Frightening possibility, but until the Democratic Party gets their act together, it's more likely than I care to admit.

Why the Democrats aren't winning 60% across the country right now is a testament to how disorganized and politically inept the party is. It's frustrating beyond belief.

I don't agree that the Dems can fix this. Their coalition is large, fractious, and often unruly. To get to a 60% win rate (that they *should* be able to achieve) is impossible, as to get there will require alienating members of the coalition.

The one bright spot is watching the balkanization of the at one time monolithic Republican party*. I do not think that there are "normies" there anymore. They either have left to tilt at windmills like The Bulwark, or they swallow their pride and go with the flow, but there is nobody inside the party to lead them back. And frankly the base and bulk of the traditional Republican constituency is just fine with the status quo.

We need to end the electoral college, and that is just not going to happen. The current polarization is here to stay, and there is no rational way back.

But while I shake my head every time a "normie" Republican opens their mouth and reveals that while in private they may utter the right thing, in public they get in line. Screw all of them.

Now I am thoroughly depressed

There is a long history of various populations not being considered "white" but the group quickly deciding to identify as such. Greeks and Italians weren't "white" in the late 1800s in the same way that their Northern European/UK neighbors. It's not surprising that, today, many white Hispanics identify as white! Also, if they are here and voting, these Hispanics jumped through all of the hoops to gain citizenship. To expect them to be supportive of policies that benefit those who aren't following the rules is naive. Finally, whoever came up with POC and Latinx clearly wanted to alienate Hispanic voters.

Changing the language (POC/LatinX/Queer/N---/Trans etc) is the faux-gressive way! I don't know who said it or the exact quote, but it's said that those who control the language get to control the narrative/story. The faux-gressives really do think they are on the right side of history. The DSA are bleeding its older and more nuanced members because of the faux-gressivness.....as we are seeing with the Israel/Hamas situation. Those on the polar spectrums of politics are the loudest and proudest and mess up any chance of compromise or normalcy for most of us floating somewhere in the middle.....and it's a shame!
