Nice sober reminder that even if Trump is defeated, there will be only negative impacts we will be dealing with for a long time.

Good point about Harrison as far as being the zero on the Presidential scale. And I agree that judging recent Presidents doesn’t work well. In addition to the emotional connections people still have, we don’t know enough of the longterm implications of their actions and inactions.

Now I'm wondering how many more U.S. citizens Trump needs to illegally detain before he breaks FDR's record.

As a boomer I had massive respect for JFK but I was also 9 years old when he was shot. I remember my mother literally weeping for hours . I think the administration was more admirers by the generation that fought WW2. Both Kennedys were pioneers of civil rights and would have had an impressive legacy, if they lived. And Johnson was also a fine president who not only addressed civil rights issues but also poverty. But I think that it was because that generation fought world war 2, they were inclined to use war in a way that we never would do now. Vietnam was a doomed enterprise but because so many Americans had this warrior movement , we remained committed to it long after it made sense. And I think that one of the real boomer contribution was to oppose that war. So I guess JFK has to be seen in that historical perspective and be viewed as a great but somewhat flawed president.
