PurpleAmerica is part of my peace of mind search. Daily/Weekly/or when reality really needs checked. I only follow a few on Substack. Charlie Sykes, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and now giving the new The Contrarian a shot. I am just a nobody looking for peace of mind. PurpleAmerica was my first I followed, also it will be my last... You go I go, no pressure! I also want to apologize for not being a paid subscriber in which you deserve. I can hardly support myself let alone others. lol

Thank you very much for the kind words Toby. They really mean a lot. A couple quick notes:

1. Charlie Sykes and Kareem are two of the best social commentators out there. To be name dropped in this way is one of the greatest compliments I can receive. THANK YOU!

2. You're not a nobody. Please don't ever think that! :)

3. Don't worry about paid subscriptions. I tried it for awhile but didn't like having it, since the importance is in getting the message out, not in making money. So the content here is free and for the most part will stay that way. I may be rolling out a podcast down the road, which may be accesible to paid subscribers (I would have to recoup my costs in creating it), but I look at that as kind of bonus content.

4. Lastly, keep reading and offering feedback. It's always great to hear from the teeming millions out there!

Thanks, and God bless,

PurpleAmerica

Hung in there, my friend! I, having been born under a real dictatorship, real but so often distorted by domestic and international analysts, I recognize the nastiness of the debate. The struggle for deeper analysis for a more accurate description of what we are living through is here to stay. Nothing is black and white, and the narrators of the shades of gray are the main targets by the protectors of the white and black camps. I wish that Clara Campoamor’s autobiography were available in English! English speakers could learn form a first person voice the price that people defending the gray paid in the past, and maybe, just maybe, some of them would be more careful with what they say.

Thank you Marta. It's people like you that make this worthwhile. I'm glad that you understand where I am coming from and why I do this.

I would love it if you chose to write a me about what it is actually like living in such a situation. I'm not sure which country you are from, but if you want to share, put your thoughts on it in an email to me. purpleamericanunity@gmail.com I, and many of our subscribers here, would likely value the insight.

Keep fighting the good fight because you are on the right track. We let Trump win because the left couldn’t keep their radical wing in check and let their messages turn off the center electorate. All we can do is watch things burn until the next election but the Democratic Party must evolve.

Whelp sorry but Musk is attempting a coup. And I'm not even a liberal. Putting a ketamine-addled non-American (and I don't give a good god damn if someone handed him a pass to the US at some point; he's South African) who was elected to exactly nothing in a position to access and rewrite critical systems is at the very least not a good idea. He's hired kids in college for cripe's sakes. I teach college (yep know that puts me in the liberal box in your mind; whatever). Kids in college are not completely baked in terms of knowledge and experience, but usually pretty arrogant about their abilities. The potential for error - and they've admitted that they did give write privileges to at least one - is immense. But I think Elon's idea is coup-like, whatever Trump had in mind, because Elon has that massive ego. And does think he should be running the US. But can't because of detail #1: not American. So vocabulary in the end is not even the issue for me. It's giving the running of the country over to a nut whose 4 year old is already saying to the elected president on hot mic that he's not the president and needs to go. And to shush your mouth for good measure. Let's find another word for it: How about crisis?
