To answer your question, way too much time. But if its a difference between not raising anything and losing and building up a war chest to deter opposition, most would choose the latter.
My representative is Zoe Lofgren, and I would recognize her anywhere. I used to ride the train by her office in downtown San Jose on my way to work every day. But I am rare.
